The accommodation at Ohorongo Tented Camp is designed to fit the environment and to keep nature close. Canvas tents are traditional and romantic, reminiscent of an old era of travel in Africa. These luxury tents incorporate ivory-coloured canvas, wooden floors, and glass doors, giving the structures security without losing the essence of an African adventure.
The accommodation at Ohorongo Tented Camp offer privacy, as they are individually positioned on the rocky outcrop, linked to one another and the camp’s shared spaces by red-soil sandy pathways. The views, as can be imagined, are supreme. Each tent has a private deck or terrace, which looks down and out onto the plains.
Guests are encouraged to make the most of their private space and to delve deep into relaxation in this beautiful, peaceful place. However, there is plenty of adventure to be had exploring the wilderness of Ohorongo, both on foot and by vehicle.
Each of the five luxury tents is individually situated across the rocky outcrop and makes the most of the extraordinary view. Ivory canvas with screen windows all round allows for plenty of light and airflow through the tent, while curtains can be drawn to keep the warmth in at night.
Accommodation is in twin and double beds in the tents, with the option to add a third bed to accommodate a child. Ensuite bathrooms have indoor showers, while each tent also has an outdoor shower offering the thrilling experience of refreshing under the stars. Wooden decks elevate the tents from the ground and extend to a covered deck where guests can sit and drink in the surroundings.
The tents at Ohorongo have writing desks, charging points, and safes for total convenience. The décor and artwork is charming – authentic wooden carvings, beadwork designs, and sculptures created by local artists to give the rooms character and a sense of African detail.
Each tent can sleep 2 guests. Children can share with parents. Please refer to our Children Policy on the Rates page.
There are fans in the tents, however no air-conditioning.
Yes all the tents have en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers. There are no bathtubs.
